The FEIF Leisure Riding Committee is launching the FEIF Tour Rider Cup on 1 May, the International Day of the Icelandic Horse. Leisure riders from around the world can participate.

The FEIF Leisure Riding Committee is launching the FEIF Tour Rider Cup. “We chose 1 May, the International Day of the Icelandic Horse, as the starting date because, usually at this time of year, many events are held and traditionally riding tours are planned in May,” explains Christian Eckert, FEIF Director of Leisure Riding.

“Our goal is to create an international competition for leisure riders. We especially want to create an opportunity for riders to experience togetherness in areas where there aren’t that many Icelandic horses (yet). We also want to strengthen people’s feeling of togetherness while riding outside,” he adds.

There are three ways to score points in the competition:

  • By registering rides longer than 90 minutes (no more than two per week).
  • Planning group rides (at least five persons) with an open invitation.
  • Publishing stories on these rides online and in print.

These registrations can be made through an application on the FEIF website.

Rides can enter the competition on the FEIF website. It will run through October. At the end of the season, the results will be analysed and the winners will be honoured at the FEIF Conference.
