The first part of the LH endurance riding competition, Survive Iceland took place today and six teams are racing. The race is four days and each team consists of 1 rider, 3 horses and two assistants.

The first part of the day was from Skarð in Landsveit, through Skarfanes, past Þjófafoss and ended at Rjúpnavellir, 28 km. Hermann Árnason, who rides for the Lífland team, had the best result, 1 hour and 32 minutes.

In the second part of the day, the ride was from Rjúpnavellir, along Heklubraut to Gunnarsholt, 31 km. Emelie Sellberg, who rides for team H. Hestaferda, had the best time on that part, 1 hour and 54 minutes in total.

After the day, Hermann Árnason leads with a time of 3 hours and 31 min, while Emilie is only 5 minutes behind him in 3 hours and 36 min.

The conditions were good today, the riding was in the lowlands on good roads and in good weather. The horses generally came out of the vet check well, some were penalized for pulse after the ride and there were few penalty points for minor injuries.
