Members of the Icelandic Horse Association (LH) voted for LH’s continued partnership in the Horses of Iceland (HOI) marketing project during LH’s general assembly, held electronically 27–28 November.
LH’s support is immensely important to HOI. LH is one of its primary partners and has two seats on the project management. LH not only takes part in funding HOI’s market activities, but also in shaping them. Currently, HOI is working on a new long-term funding contract with the Icelandic government and LH’s support is one of the conditions for such a contract.
LH and HOI will continue to promote horsemanship for newcomers to the sport and encourage them to join horse clubs, as well as helping horse clubs advertise and develop their work. At the general assembly it became clear that new recruits and domestic promotion of horsemanship is what LH members believe to be the most pressing marketing issue at present.
At the general assembly, Guðni Halldórsson was elected new chairman of LH. He is pleased with the continued cooperation with HOI. “One of my main campaign issues and what I consider most important is to engage more people in horsemanship. The new LH board has yet to meet but I believe, based on my conversations with board members, that they will agree that this is the issue we should highlight. HOI’s expertise, resources and manpower will prove very useful in this regard and we will work closely together on the important and demanding task ahead.”
HOI project manager Jelena Ohm adds: “We are very grateful for LH’s support from the very beginning. What’s most important is to work on these marketing activities together, coordinate our message and that way, make them more effective. Cooperation is key to success and it is obvious that without LH this project wouldn’t exist.”
