Here is an important message: “Help us protect the Icelandic horse! Do not bring riding gear (saddles, bridles, nosebands, pads, rugs, whips, etc.) or used riding gloves to Iceland as import is prohibited. Disinfect riding clothes prior to entry as instructed and avoid bringing animal products. These can carry infections to Iceland.”
The Icelandic Food and Veterinary Office (MAST) hopes to reach tourists with a new video on disease control.
“Bringing new diseases to the country could have disastrous consequences for the Icelandic horse. MAST encourages the Icelandic horse community to share the new video on control of infectious diseases to help protect the wellbeing of Icelandic animals,” says Sigurborg Daðadóttir, Chief Veterinary Officer at MAST.
Share the video here. You can also find it under “Videos” on horsesoficeland.is.
You can find more information about disease control on the office’s website.
